If you are not familiar with the term, “plisse” refers to fabric that has been intentionally crumpled or pleated as part of the design and production process, usually either by weaving with tension threads or treating the fabric with a caustic soda wash to produce the distinctive pucker. Plisse fabrics have been in popular use since at least the Middle Ages!
This one is richly colored with a black face covered with a random scattering of white dots, the pattern still shows on the reverse, but looks more like blue-silver with white dots, which makes it perfect for unlined and reversible designs. It’s soft, supple, and very flattering. It will skim your fabric and drape over your curves, making it perfect for pants, tunics, dresses, suits, and more.
This fabric does not have any stretch beyond the ease stretch you get from the micropleats. This fabric is pretty ease to care for, and can be machine washed cold, and dried on a low heat setting. It can be pressed (use a low heat setting), and you should still have your pleats. As always, we make no warranties on this and recommend washing, drying, and pressing a test piece first.
