This is a beautiful fabric that reminds me of corduroy – but is not ribbed, has velvet herringbone stripes – but is much sturdier than velvet, so what is this unicorn? It’s like an upholstery velvet, but soft, light, thin, eminently drapeable…. it’s basically perfect! Ideal for velvet creations that need a touch of body – tailored jackets, pencil skirts, elegant structured dresses, etc. Wonderful hand!! Has body, but is not stiff at all!
The color on this is a deep, rich, true black – photos were lightened to show the herringbone. Herringbone runs up the length of the fabric.
