Description
This
is a gorgeous maru obi (a kind of obi in which the design runs along the full
length of the fabric along both sides!) in cream with an elegant design of open abstract fans (suggested by the arched shape) covered with seasonal flowers (chrysanthemums, pine, bamboo, etc.) and cranes, accented with geometric shapes and scattered gold and white “confetti” bits and swirls of plants outside the fans. All lavishly accented with metallic gold.
This vintage piece has some age patina, creasing, and some marks or discoloration (examples in the last photos). Because of that, this piece is ideal for cutting up to use in projects. There are also 2 small burn marks near one end – see last photo.
What
to do with this other than wrapping it around your kimono? You can drape it on
