If you aren’t familiar with it (since it’s such a specialty fabric), maline is a very fine silk gauzy net that originated in Malines, Belgium (hence the name – like denim = “de Nimes”).
Silk maline normally retails for over $150/yard – particularly this kind of super-fine French-made, which is no longer available. But this is vintage and therefore fragile, so selling it for a discount. This would be wonderful for all kinds of millinery applications.
It looks to be in excellent condition, but there may be irregularities or snags in the bolt, this is part of the vintage character of this item and should not be considered a ‘flaw’.
