This beautiful vintage cream woman’s kimono features a printed design of folding fans and swirls in purple and magenta. White silk lining. This is a rare and really cool piece because you can see the original drawn lines the artist used – possibly intended to be outlined in metallic gold or silver? Silk lining features the ombered dip-dyed edging typical of high-quality kimono of the mid-late Showa Period. Some stains, which may be cleanable – talk to an expert dry cleaner who specializes in vintage clothes. Otherwise, this might be a good piece to cut up and reuse in crafts, for pillows and other home dec, etc.

Sleeve hang length is 19.50”, kimono is 53” wide from wrist to wrist, and is 63.25“ long from shoulder to hem, width of the back is 25.5”. |

Size differences in kimono are minimal, and are actually one-size-fits-all garments that fit an American size 2-12. Kimono are surprisingly long because they were cut so that Japanese women could pull them up at the waist to the precise length needed, and bind them in place with an obi.
There are many non-traditional ways for Westerners to wear kimono. They can be bloused and worn with a chain belt or sash. They can be worn open, as dusters or luxurious evening coats. Some pieces can be shortened if desired, depending upon their design.
