Description
This gorgeous chirimen crepe (this particular fabric has almost no texture, unlike the traditional nubbly chirimen) features a stunning print from 1844, “Triptych of Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre”, by artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi. It depicts a scene from the mythologized story of 10th-century Princess Takiyasha, whose father staged a revolt that was quashed and he was beheaded. The princess continued to live in the ruins of her father’s mansion, until one day the emperor sent an official to check for surviving insurrectionists. In this scene, the princess uses a magic scroll to summon a skeleton spectre who bursts through the paper wall and helps protect the princess from the official.
This beautiful print is faithfully reproduced on a ground of dark burgundy with black branches and white plum blossoms. Soft, light, nice drape, this would be so cool for all kinds of lingerie kimono, lingerie, shirts, skirts, dresses, light duster jackets, bag linings, home dec, and more. 150gsm.
44″ Wide. 100% Rayon. Price is per yard.
